The Walsh 4XO replaced the Walsh 4 with real wood veneer cabinets. The XO stood for eXtra Output because this series was more sensitive than the earlier series. It used the Walsh 4 cabinet and grill with the Walsh 4XO driver. None of the XOs had controls. There are Ohm logos on the front of the cabinet centered toward the bottom. There is a foam surround inside the driver that requires periodic replacement.
There should be a label under the grill that says ''aim toward center of room''. This label should be opposite the corner where the wires are coming out of the driver can. The Walsh 4XO should be set up eight to ten feet apart, with the labels on the inside front corners to benefit from the Full Room Stereo effect.
The Ohm Walsh 4XO was one of our most sensitive Walsh speakers and needs only a small amplifier to complement it's natural vocal reproduction in small to medium sized rooms. It reproduces jazz, folk, and chamber music with exceptional accuracy.
Upgrade Options:
The speaker can be upgraded with Walsh 200 Mk-2 driver and a vent adapter
to tune the cabinet lower for deeper bass. No tools are necessary and it takes
only 5 minutes to install. You'll enjoy much deeper bass and more open highs in exchange for lower sensitivity and more ''laid back'' balance. You can audition this upgrade with our 60 Day Home Trial because there is no permanent modification to the cabinet. Good Listening!
Trade-In Options:
